Summer excitement builds

Cyclist in lavender field

More than a dozen volunteers met at George Washington Inn to plan and shape the various aspects of this exciting new summer ride up to the Olympic Peninsula. Refreshment and rest stops were incorporated into the ride. After coming over the Hood Canal Bridge, the ride will divert off Hwy 104 at the Chimicum/Quilcene turnoff and head south on Center Road into Quilcene. It will then head up the Olympic Hwy to Discovery Bay where it will follow along Hwy 101 to Blyn and then connect with the Olympic Discovery Trail.

The second phase of the ride will take cyclists along the Olympic Discovery Trail to visit several of the lavender farms around Sequim. This segment will be the family-friendly part that will add a great deal of interest to cyclists of all levels.

The next planning meeting will be held at the same location on March 4, 2013 at 2 pm.
