About the ride

It’s not just a ride, it’s an experience!

“America’s Provence, where mountains roll down to the sea and lavender grows so well”

Upcoming Event: August 4, 2018

Celebrate the beauty of the Olympic Peninsula on the “Tour de Lavender™” and cycle around to enjoy the world-loved lavender farms in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley. Being the fifth year for this successful ride, you can also include a recreational ride up into the Olympic National Park with Ride the Hurricane

Tour de Lavender™ includes two events for appeal to the broadest range of cyclists and their families (Note: These are separate rides and require separate registration if you and/or your family are participating):

Metric Century – This classic long distance ride on Saturday, August 4, 2018 is co-sponsored by the Sequim Spoke Folk and several other cycling groups from Sequim. It will have all the technical support needed for a ride of this distance. The route will travel on back roads of the Sequim-Dungeness Valley and the Olympic Discovery Trail. Our Olympic Discovery Trail is a very important part of this ride. Riders will be arriving throughout the day and many will stay overnight to participate in the Ride the Hurricane on Sunday. The entry fee for the Metric Century is $55 per person.

Fun Ride –  This very special family-friendly cycling tour to the Sequim Lavender Farms is designed for people of all ages and abilities and will be available for cyclists and family members Saturday, August 4, 2018. This is a relaxed trip for spouses/partners, kids, and even babies in “carriers,” visiting welcoming lavender farms on the back-roads of the valley in what is a mostly level and easy route. Riders will also be encouraged to visit and utilize the Olympic Discovery Trail as part of their ride and will have options to extend the program throughout the trail system. Each of the lavender farms on the ride will have special attractions for families. The entry fee is $45 per person, a rider under 12 is only $15.

Tour de Lavender™ is the exciting cycling program of the Sequim Lavender Farmers Association designed to accomplish three goals: increase the growing cycling tourism on the Olympic Peninsula; to see the world-famous lavender farms up close at the peak of the lavender season; and to allow more people to experience the gorgeous Sequim-Dungeness Valley. Tour de Lavender™ is part of the Pedal Power Weekend. The combination of the Tour de Lavender™ on Saturday with Ride the Hurricane on Sunday creates a tremendous weekend package for cyclists – Pedal Power Weekend!

Creating these cycling and family-focused events will not only become an annual focus for those who love cycling and may want to include their families and friends, but has become an annual tourist event enhancing both over-night and day-trip tourists and their economic impact on the Sequim-Dungeness Valley.

Any proceeds remaining after the event will benefit non-profits, namely the Peninsula Trails Coalition (Olympic Discovery Trail) and the Sequim Lavender Farmers Association.
